What Does FCM Do?

Flaherty Consulting & Management offers a variety of consulting services in the entertainment industry including Personnel Training, Operations Management, Production Coordination, A&R and A&R Administration, Royalty Retrieval, Demo Shopping, as well as Business and Legal Affairs.

Record Label Training

Our Personnel Training package is ideal for those start up companies who currently have human resources in order, but seek to train their current employees in how to work in a more organized and efficient way, those who need to learn music industry basics, and help those more experienced keep up with the changing trends in the industry.  Employees will be trained in:

 ·     Day to day operations of a record label and/or production company
 · Organization of necessary files both on the computer and off
 · Computer set up of necessary administration forms and documents
 · Production coordination i.e., equipment rentals, producer budgets, invoices, union contracts
 ·    A&R Administration duties such as studio set up and negotiations, purchase orders, invoices,  payment policies, overall recording budgets, session reports, and more
 · Publishing administration including song split forms, ASCAP and BMI registration, overview of mechanical royalties vs. performance royalties


In today's market, going independent is the key to financial success.  Many producers and other individuals are now seeking to start their own companies but may not have the man power or business organization skills to do it alone.  For these individuals and companies, FCM also offers hands on services to those who may not yet have their own operating staff.  The FCM staff will assist companies in the following areas:

Daily Operations

·     Business incorporation
·     Development of company policy
·
Office set-up including finding office space, phone systems, computer networking, purchasing  other necessary office equipment
· Operating budgets
· All necessary paperwork relating to project coordination A&R and A&R Administration
·
Serving as liaison between company and outside resources such as labels, distribution companies, business managers and attorneys

A&R Administration

· Creating and maintaining all recording budgets
·     Studio set up and all other set up related to recording including POs for engineers, equipment rentals, etc.
· Union contracts when necessary
· Creating purchase orders
· Reviewing and generating payment for all incoming invoices

Production Coordination

FCM also offers services to producers who would like to have their paperwork done by an outside source to ensure timely payment of advance fees as well as to monitor royalties owed.  Production coordination services are as follows:

· Submission of producer budgets to label A&R Administration department
· Coordination of studio time, travel and lodging, equipment rentals, with artist and A&R
· Session reports
· Song split forms
·     Sample information forms
· Publishing  tracking publishing royalties owed to producer and/or artists

Royalty Retrieval

Record Labels are required by law to pay statutorily mandated recording royalties to writers. Writers are also entitled do performance royalties as well. Unfortunately, many writers/producers are not collecting on the royalties owed to them for various reasons. FCM helps by providing the following services:

· Examing, negotiating, and solving song split disputes between writers and producers.
· Notifying the appropriate agencies of any disputes.
· Resolving disputes ensuring our clients receive the royalties due them.
